Bethaney grew up artistic; she just couldn’t help but turn into a stylist.  Singing, playing music, putting on plays, drawing, making clothes with her mom, and doing her sisters’ hair were all part of growing up in Portland with five sisters and one brother.  After graduating from high school in 2007, Bethaney moved to LA to study fashion illustration, then returned to Portland to study cosmetology with Aveda.  It’s turned out that hair is a great creative outlet!  Bethaney specializes in short women’s haircuts, enjoying differentiating between androgynous and feminine cuts, and doing many of each.  She also loves long “beachy" bohemian styles, and sexy voluminous blowouts.  For color, Bethaney loves ombre, balyage and other highlights, multi-dimensional brunettes and reds. Bethaney believes that the consultation is one of the most important parts of doing hair, along with the connection between stylist and client, always striving to create good hair and a wonderful personal experience. She loves dry cutting, detailing a cut specifically to her client.  She believes that styling everyday with hot tools should be a bonus, not a requirement.  Color techniques should be innovative and continually evolving, yet able to create classic looks.  Starting her career in 2009, and after attending the Aveda Institute, Bethaney has continued to study cutting with Aveda and Babyliss, color with Davines and Schwarzkopf, and styling with Kevin Murphy.  She’s done bridal hair, rockstar hair, and fashion-show hair, and worked behind the chair at The Parlour in St. Johns. Bethaney loves the city life of fashion, hair, makeup, dressing up, beer and food.  But her other world is the woods—backpacking, hiking, rafting, and mountain biking.  Come see her!
