Shelby wants all her clients to know that above all, they are important to her. She will hear what they have to say—their goals for their hair—and work as hard as she can to get them there. And that client is you! Shelby loves balayage and beachy blondes most, but when you ask her what services she likes, the list goes on to include color corrections, rich reds and browns, lived-in long and medium layered cuts, and blowouts and other styling. Shelby’s training is extensive. She went to The San Francisco Institute of Esthetics and Cosmetology, a Paul Mitchell Partner School, and has since had most of her training with Loreal Professionel, including assisting a Loreal nationally certified balayage educator for two years. She has attended and assisted in a cutting and styling class with NAHA winner Vivienne Mackinder; became certified by Cinderella Hair to do tape-in, bonded, and beaded extensions; attended and modeled for an advanced makeup course for MUSE beauty; and has had many in-salon classes in balayage and lived-in color, upcoming trends, precision cutting, deep conditioning, vibrant reds, color placement techniques, and having a proper consultation. Shelby is hungry for more education and will continue to attend classes throughout her entire career. Living in San Francisco, Shelby used to do hair and makeup for runway shows, photoshoots, weddings, portraits, and other occasions as her weekend hobby. Shelby believes that life is too short to have mediocre hair. “Hair is one of the first things people look at, so give them something to look at.” She believes that no matter what your color or length goals are, the integrity of the hair needs to be maintained, so the hair is rich, shiny, and beautiful. Shelby wants you to feel comfortable and totally confident in the plan she has for their hair, and she will work hard to communicate effectively with you during the consultation. She will hear what you have to say. Shelby is originally from Ashland, Oregon but has lived in Santa Cruz, Hawaii, San Francisco, Washington, and Portland. She loves to cook, is into health and nutrition but loves a good beer, loves the outdoors and cares about animal rights. She falls in love with any dog she meets, Hawaii is her happy place, and laughing is her favorite thing.
